Four ways a contest runs

Every contest card says which one it is.

Same sitting

One start time for everyone, one paper, so the scores compare directly against each other.

Supervised

A fixed sitting with a volunteer present at a centre or on video, confirming who is taking the test.

Instant

Start whenever you like while the window is open. Where the question pool is larger than the paper, each attempt draws a fresh set.

Judged

No clock. Submit your work before the window closes and the judges score it afterwards.

Coins in, coins out

Contests and games cost coins to enter. Practice sets are free.

About coins

Where the prize money goes

From a sponsor to the winner's hand, with nobody in between.

  1. Sponsor

Someone abroad, an alumnus or an organisation chooses a contest to fund.

  2. Prize pool

Every taka given for a prize is paid out as a prize.

  3. Score

The winner is decided by score alone. Sponsors never see the paper or pick the winner.

  4. In-person check

A campus representative meets the winner and verifies who they are, and is never paid for it.

  5. Winner

The money goes straight to the winner. Claiming it costs nothing.

  6. Published

Who won, how much and when, on the winners page, under a pseudonym.

What we ask, and when

Only what each step needs, and never earlier.

To open an account

  • Name
  • District and upazila
  • Institution
  • Email

To register for a contest

  • Mobile number
  • A guardian's number, if you are under 18

Only if you win, in person

  • Your national ID is looked at. The number is not kept, only a fingerprint of it

  • A portrait of you may be taken, seen only by you and your campus representatives

Common questions

About money and prizes

Is a prize a loan? Do I repay it later?
No. It is a prize, not a loan. There is nothing to repay, no interest and no contract.
Does it cost anything to enter or to register?
Opening an account costs nothing, and you start with 20 coins. A contest costs 5 to 30 coins, a game 2, and practice sets are free. Coins can be earned, and bought on the coins page. That is the only thing ovoy ever takes payment for.The coins page
Someone asked me for money in ovoy's name. What do I do?
It is fraud. Nobody from ovoy asks for money anywhere but the coins page, not to release a prize and not to verify you. Send us the message or the number on the contact page.Contact page
Who can enter?
Students from secondary school through university. Each contest page says which levels it is for.All contests
When is the next competition?
Contests run all year. What is live and what opens next is on the home page and the competitions page, each with its own dates. All contests
Will everyone know my name?
Game boards and the winners page show a pseudonym only. A contest's published results list the top names and schools, but how much anyone won is never shown next to a real name.
Why is my university not live?
A campus goes live when it has a representative, who verifies the winners there in person. If you want to be that representative, tell us.Become a representative

About sitting a test

Can I take part on a phone?
Yes. The site is built for phones first. A stable connection helps.
What if my internet drops mid-test?
Your answers are saved in the browser. Reopen the page and you continue where you left off, though the timer keeps running.
What is a Roll ID, and what if I lose it?
Registering for a contest gives you a Roll ID. It belongs to your account, so sign in on any device and open that contest's registration page to see it again.
What stops people cheating?
Nobody sees a paper before it opens: it stays on the server, and the server marks it. A same-sitting contest starts for everyone at once, a supervised one has a volunteer present, and an instant one with a larger question pool draws a different paper for every attempt. And identity is checked in person before any prize is paid.
Should I answer in Bangla or English?
The whole site works in both languages. Switch with the button at the top right. The essay contest runs Bangla and English as separate tracks.
Can I enter more than one contest?
Yes. Each contest is registered for separately and has its own coin price. Where a contest allows more than one attempt, its page says so.
How do I get my certificate?
After results are published, enter your name on that contest's results page and download it.
How are prizes delivered?
Once results are out, we contact you. A representative meets you in person and checks your mobile number and national ID together, and then the prize money is paid straight to you. Claiming a prize never costs anything, and the payout is published on the winners page.

For sponsors

Can I give this as Zakat?
No. A competition prize is a gift to the winner, not Zakat, so ovoy does not take Zakat. For anything else, write to us on the contact page.Contact page
Can I choose where my money goes?
Yes. You choose one contest's prizes, or entry for students who cannot buy coins. Every taka given for a prize is paid out as a prize. The winner is chosen by score alone. The sponsor page
Do I get a receipt?
Yes, a receipt is sent to you once the money arrives. Every prize payout is published on the winners page, without the winner's real name. When the contest closes you are also told separately where your money went.Winners and payments
